Two Thing Thursday

2 Thing Thursday

Two Things I'm Watching:
1. The Walking Dead on Netflix. The Hubs and I were on the hunt for a show we could watch together, as sorta mini-date nights in once a week after Bugs went to sleep. We watched one episode of this and the Hubs decided he wasn't into it but I liked it. I mean, it gives me nightmares but I'm into it. So now I'm watching it solo at the gym or during nap.
2. Jessica Jones on Netflix. This was the next show the Hubs and I tried on our date night quest and we both liked it. We're almost through season one.

Two Things I Bought:
1. Taco Sauce. We're having taco night and I realized we were out. You can't have tacos without taco cause!
2. Mint flavored toothpaste. We went over the weekend and the Hubs grabbed the toothpaste. It wasn't til we got home that we realized he grabbed cinnamon flavored. Not happening. I exchanged it for mint and all is right in the world again.

Two Pics of Peanut Butter:

Two Things I'm Eating Lately:
OK, this is really just one thing. I've been doing protein shakes for lunch. I'd lie and say it's because they taste so yummy, but that'd be a big, fat lie. I'm trying to clean up my eating (& shrink my waist) before gorging myself on the cruise the Hubs and I are going on in a couple weeks.

2 Things Thursday

Two Things I've Been Up To:
1. Shopping

I can't even make these conversations up.

2. Getting dressed. See, it's not every day I get dressed in REAL clothes. Sure, I put a bra on every day-- but some days, it's yoga pants and a t-shirt. I mean, if I'm not leaving the house why not?!?!? And, I am ALWAYS dirty. Bailey's snotting nose and/or grubby hands are always all over me. Even when I do get dressed in real clothes, I'm dirty 6 seconds later.

Look! Real clothes!! Boots and a necklace and I even did my hair. Less than 2 minutes later, I'm covered in something. I don't even know what or how girl manages to work so fast.

Two Recent Workouts:
1. Run, run, ruuuuuning.
I've been running a little more lately. What can I say-- I'm still inspired.

2. Elliptical. BLEARH.
Nothing really more to say about that.

Two Pictures of Bailey:
No explanation needed. SO MUCH CUTENESS.

Two Random Things:
1. I hit my head on a bookshelf while plugging in our Christmas tree and cut myself in the forehead. It's a small cut, but drew blood and now looks like a zit. Only me.

2. I am OBSESSED with this song.

Two Thing Thursday

Two Thing Thursday....

Two Songs on Repeat

1. Taylor Swift - Shake It Off.

Judge away. I love it and I love Taylor and have no shame. Guilty pleasure and proud of it. And I'd way rather have Bailey listen to something like Taylor Swift than songs about smoking pot or abusive relationships.

2. Megan Trainor - All About That Bass

Again. Some people hate this song. I love it. Get off me. It's catchy and fun. Why listen to music that isn't FUN? Life's too short. And again, I'd rather Bailey listen to something with a message about loving your body than glamorize stick thin models who just. don't. eat. And, ps- I listened to a few of her other songs and they're pretty good too.

Two Shows I'm Watching:
1. Scandal.
 (source)
Duh. Is anyone not watching this show? So good.

2. House of Cards.
I wasn't really sure if I would get into this show. I didn't watch West Wing and I'm not into politics. But, hot damn! This show is pretty good. It was slow to start and took like 3 or 4 episodes for me to get into it, but now I'm hooked. I'm watching it on Netflix (duh-- it's a Netflix show) and am about half way through season 2.

Two Things I'm Looking Forward to This Weekend:
1. Seeing Gone Girl Friday night!! WAHOO!! I read this book on the way back from our cruise on a whim (aka- I read all the books I brought on the actual cruise and ended up buying this one for WAY too much money in the airport so I wouldn't drive the Hubs crazy on the loooong, lay-over-filled way back). I wasn't thrilled with at first, but quickly couldn't put it down. Twisty and turns like WOAH! Loved it. I'm pumped to see the movie. Can't wait!
(Obviously it wouldn't be possible for the Hubs and I to have a date night to see Gone Girl without my wonderful and amazing in-laws and their bomb babysitting skills! THANK YOU!!)

2. Pretending to be a Purdue fan this weekend and going to the game on Saturday.
At a Purdue game, 2012

We try to go to one game a year and this will be Bailey's first game... sure, it's the wrong teams (GO ILLINI!!!), but it'll still be SO fun to go with the in-laws and have Bailey get to see all the college football hoopla.
They may have lost, but they sure had some cute fans cheering for them.

Two Articles I Recently Read:
Very good read for women, whether dating or happily (or unhappily) married. My favorite part??

Fuck wondering if you're lovable. Fuck asking someone else, "Am I there yet?" Fuck listening for the answer. Fuck waiting, alone, for a verdict that never comes. Don't grow up to be one of those women with a perpetual question mark etched in her brow: Am I good? Am I lovable? Am I enough? You are here. Sit down. Feel your potential in this moment. You have accepted too little for too long. That is changing today. Breathe in. Draw a picture of yourself. Tape it to the wall, with the words: YOU ARE HERE. You are here. Cherish yourself.

Too many WONDERFUL women I know look to someone else to answer their questions. Look to someone else to tell them what to question, even. Look to someone else for everything. Fuck that. YOU ARE HERE. Be your own question and be your own answer.

Great read for married parents. My favorite parts??

"Sometime between when we were children and when we had children of our own, parenthood became a religion in America. As with many religions, complete unthinking devotion is required... Nothing in life is allowed to be more important than our children... Children always come first. In the 21st century, most Americans marry for love. We choose partners who we hope will be our soulmates for life. When children come along, we believe that we can press pause on the soulmate narrative, because parenthood has become our new priority and religion. Once our Gods have left us, we try to pick up the pieces of our long neglected marriages and find new purpose. Is it surprising that divorce rates are rising fastest for new empty nesters? Perhaps it is time that we gave the parenthood religion a second thought."

We all know-- I am OBSESSED with my child. I love her with every inch of me. She is me. She is the best parts of me. I made her. I genuinely LIKE my kid and love spending time with her. I MISS her when she sleeps. I'm excited to greet her each morning. I feel genuinely LUCKY and BLESSED to get her as a daughter and to get to spend as much time with her as I do. I feel proud to have the privilege of raising her.

But.

Matt comes first. Our marriage comes first. Maybe not every, single day. I'm a grown up and understand that things eb and flow and different things take different positions on the priority ladder on different days. Being a Mom is the most important job in my life. But- our marriage is the most important thing in my life. Yes, I just said that out loud. I'm prepared for the backlash. Bring it.

Two Thing Thursday: 7/10

Two Songs I Can't Get Enough Of:
1. Still love me some Taylor Swift.
You know how songs have a way of bringing up a very vivid memory of a time you heard it? For me, any song on this CD will always bring me back to the Hubs and my cruise 2 years ago. I had just gotten this CD and basically had it on repeat the entire time on my iPod. Now, if only we could recreate that memory... anyone wanna babysit?
2. "Oh mister sun, sun, mister golden sun..." Yeah. That song. No clue the name. It's a kids song. It's one of my favorite kids songs right now. Yes, I have favorites.

Two Shows I'm Watching:
1. Big Brother.
Looooove this show. One of my very best friends in the world got me hooked on this in grad school. Now, I can't stop. Obsessed. If I had no life and all the time in the world, I'd totally pay for the 24 hour live feed. Because I'm a loser. Alas, I'll have to settle for the 3 episodes a week. I never catch it live... thankgoodness for cbs.com and naptime.

2. Still Secret Life of the American Teenager. Still sucks. Still can't stop.

Two Things I'm Looking Forward To Doing This Weekend:
1. Shakespeare in the Park! The Hubs and I are going to see Romeo and Juliet. I love plays, so I'm pumped. Hopefully it's not too hot and Bailey falls fast asleep in the Ergo.

2. Taste of Chicago. We've gone a couple times in the past and it's always a good time. Definitely looking forward to it again.

Two Cute Pics of Bailey:
1. Nothing cuter than a baby tush.

2. Little Mozart in the making.

Two Things That Sucked This Week (so far):

1. Chipping a tooth. Boooooo. I have terrible teeth. They look decent, especially for never having braces, but they're terrible. I joke that I have skinny-fat-person-teeth. You know... those super skinny people who eat TERRIBLE and never workout, but just are super skinny anyway. That's my teeth. They look decent, but are terrible inside. Boo. Dentist appointment scheduled for next week.

2. Went to a Mom's group event and I was the only person who showed. It's never happened before and some extenuating circumstances made it so people who planned to come had to bail last minute. It happens. Still sucked though.

Two Workouts This Week:
1. I ran again! On my own!! FOUR miles this time. I'm getting there!!
Ok, so it wasn't the fastest, but I ran. And, I felt strong.

2. Oh, Bob Harper. You kick my ass every time.

Two Things I'm Doing Today:
1. Going to tour a donut factory to learn how donuts are made with my Mom's Group! Ok, ok-- I know that Bailey gets nothing out of this in theory... but, I think she does somehow! I love exposing her to new and different things... plus, she's too little for her free donut so you know who gets it!!! :)

2. Oil change. Boo. Hopefully it's quick and painless.

Two Thing Thursday

Two Things on my To-Do List:
1. Pick up my wedding ring from the jewelry store. I'm still ringless and it's weird and I don't like it! Glad my ring came back in. Now, I just gotta go pick it up!
Done! Picked it up yesterday! Crazy how naked I feel without it. Good to have it back. :)

2. Vacuum the apartment. Holy dog hair, Sadie. She is shedding like crazy right now. It's baaaaad. Poor Bailey is constantly covered in hair now that she's crawling and drooling (so it sticks to her-- niiiice!) like a madman.

Two Workouts this Week:
1. Biggest Loser Workout DVD.
Yep- still renting workout DVD's from the library. Only done this one once and it was just sorta OK. I'll do the next level up and see if it's any better. Oh- but, WOAH! Jillian and Bob look so young! Blast from the past!!

2. 8-Minute Abs. I didn't do 8-Minute Arms too because my arms were still in pain (not really sore.... maybe I tore something?) from the crazy outside yard work the Hubs and I did over the weekend (ps- what a great workout yard work is! I was SO sweaty. OMG. I loved it!!).

Two Things I am OVER this Week:
1. Bailey waking up at 5am. Woah girl. GO BACK TO SLEEP. I'm a morning person, but COME ON. 6:30am is early enough. Really.

2. The rain. The constant, downpour apocalypse style rain. We've gotten caught outside in it twice. Never fun to get caught in a downpour, but MUCH LESS FUN to get caught in a downpour with a baby. Plus, Sadie is a GIANT baby when it rains. She either hides under the bed, in the closet, or wants to be RIGHT NEXT TO YOU (though what else is new here?).

Two Things I Have or Am Going to Cook This Week:
1. Chicken Burritos!! Based loosely on this recipe. Really, I just cooked a couple chicken breasts in the crockpot with some taco seasoning. Then, I chopped and sautéed some peppers, onions, corn, and black beans. Combine and put in tortilla (flour for us), then grill on grill pan. Oh, and then eat LOTS of guac on the side. Yum. Mexican food is always a win.

2. Cookies. Lots and lots of cookies. The Hubs has a family reunion this weekend and I volunteered to bring dessert! I'm planning to make 3 different kinds. I love baking!!

Two Shows I'm Watching:
1. Secret Life of the American Teenager. Ok, so this show is BAD. Like, really bad. Bad acting, bad story lines, bad drama, just bad. But, I'm hooked and gonna see it through. I'm watching an episode during Bailey's afternoon nap and sometimes after she goes to bed. I really don't like the show, but I'm invested. Thanks for the entertainment, Netflix Instant!

2. Lost. Yep. The Hubs and I are still making our way through Lost. We're in the middle of Season 3. Goodness, I love this show. I forgot how much. However, it is also really, really stupid at parts too and I definitely forgot how much. The smoke monster? Come on. Stupid.
(Note: We're still cable-free and loving it! Great decision. Of course, the Hubs hasn't been faced with college basketball season yet, but so far, so good!)

Two Thing Thursday

Two Thing Thursday...

Two Foods I Can't Get Enough Of:
1. Target's Monster Trail Mix.
OMG. It is beyond addictive. And please don't let the phrase "trail mix" fool you into thinking this is healthy. It's not. It's essentially candy in a jar and worth every delicious bite.

2. Coffee (that totally counts as a food, right?). However, I was mega pissed when I went to Dunkin' Donuts during their happy hour and got charged full price for a vanilla latte. Ok, I get that the iced coffee is on special for 99 cents and this was a latte... but, hello- let's be real: a latte is an iced coffee with milk. Whatever. Lesson learned. Speaking of coffee... I really need to clean my Keurig.
I had no idea that was something I was supposed to do, but apparently it is and you should do it every few months. Yeaaaaah. Our was a wedding gift and has never been cleaned. Whoops.

Two Things I Should Have Done Yesterday, But Didn't:
1. Vaccumed. I just ran out of time. I thought when I started this "Leave 2.0" SAHM business that I'd have ALL THE FREE TIME to do shit. And, I do get a lot of shit done. But, the day also FLIES by and somedays not everything can get done. Oh well.
2. Picked up the key for our apartment complex pool! It opens next week and I'm SO EXCITED to take B swimming!! Gotta go get the key before it opens.

Two Shows I'm Watching: (Note: the Hubs and I got rid of cable, so all TV watching is now ala Netflix or DVDs. So far, it's been just fine!)
1.  Orange is the New Black
Have you watched this show? I know I'm hella late to this party, but OMG. It's gross and hysterical and witty and addictive. I'm about half through season 1. Thank goodness for nap time!

2. Lost
Yep. The Hubs and I are still making our way through this series. Confession: we're still only about half through season 2. Hey, it's hard to have time with a new-ish born! That, and we're lazy, even in our TV watching. That takes talent!

Two Random Facts About the Hubs and Me:
1. We can't agree when to take Bailey to Disney for the first time. Hubs is all LOGICAL and wants her to be old enough to remember it. I'm all EMOTIONAL and like "LET'S GO NOOOOOOOOW!!!!" Ok, ok. I know he's right, but don't tell him that.
2. While I was pregnant numerous people told us they hoped the baby got my personality and the Hubs intelligence. Not sure if we should have individually been insulted, but at least we compliment each other, right?!?!?
Remember back when I was pregnant? Yeah, I have a hard time remembering that time too. Feels like YEARS ago!

Two Things I'm Looking Forward To This Weekend:
1. Family time. Yes, I get this everyday. But, I love the weekends where we get ALL day together.
My whole world, in this one picture.

2. Along the family-time lines... going on walks with the Hubs, Sadie and Bailey.
It's hard to take Sadie when I take Bailey on walks because.... well, Sadie can be an asshole on walks. Her beagle instincts take over and girl just wants to sniff everything and pulls like CRAZY and it's just too much with Bailey in tow. So, sadly, Sadie gets left behind when B and I go on our morning walks so I'm looking forward to us all being able to go for a few walks this weekend. Hear that, mother nature? That means you gotta cooperate!

Two Thing Thursday, 7/26

Two Thing Thursday...

Two Foods I Can't Get Enough Of:
1. Apples and Peanut Butter. I know that's technically 2 things right there, but because I'm obsessed with eating them together, I feel like they count as 1.
2. Almonds. Maybe it's since hearing they're even healthier than people thought, I can't get enough of them.
Nutrition: This nut is even healthier than we thought

Two Songs I'm Obsessed With:
1. Fall Apart Today by Schuyler Fisk
2. Part of Me by Katy Perry

Two Shows I'm Watching:
1. Pretty Little Liars

2. Big Brother

Two Things I Hope I Never See Again:
1. Cleaning supplies. OMG! I never knew you could spend SO much time cleaning such a small space. I am beyond over cleaning. If I never see another sponge, it's too soon.
2. The Check Engine light in my car. This didn't come on this week (knock on wood), but it's never a good thing when it does.

Two Funny E-Cards That Kinda Sum Up My Week:

Two of My Favorite Candy Bars:
1. Twix
2. 100 Grand

Two Things I'm Looking Forward To This Weekend:
1. BEING DONE MOVING.
2. Fro yo. Much deserved weekend fro yo. Massive, obscene amounts of fro yo.

Two Thing Thursday

Two Things I Did Yesterday:
1. Celebrated 7-11... FREE SLURPEE DAY! I went for 1/2 Coke and 1/2 Cherry. Perfect summer treat.

2. Read part of the new book I'm reading. It's the sequel to "Matched". It's a teen book kinda in the same category as the Hunger Games, except not as good. It's a quick, easy read and I'm digging it so far.
Speaking of books, I couldn't get through "Run Less, Run Faster", so I've moved on. I don't know... I might go back to it, we'll see. Maybe it's because I KNOW I don't want to only run 3 days a week so it wasn't real for me or something? Who knows. I'm keeping on my night stand so I can pick it up now and then if I want to. We'll see.

Two Songs I'm Loving:
1. Watching You Watch Him - Eric Hutchinson
2. You Don't Know Me - Ben Folds

Two Food I Can't Get Enough Of:
1. Pears! I had one this week and it was that PERFECT stage of ripeness. SO yummy!
2. Laffy Taffy's. My office really needs to run out of these. Like now. And, they will. Soon. Because I'll eat them all. Guilty as charged.

Two Things I Should Have Done Yesterday (But Didn't):
1. Pack. We get the keys to our new house a week from tomorrow (yaaay!!) and we've hardly packed anything.
2. One word- STICK.

Two Upcoming Events I'm Excited About:
1. Taste of Chicago! The Hubs and I went last year and we're going with his parents this year. NOM NOM NOM! So much delicious food! I cannot wait. Of course, it's f-ing with my long run plans, but hey-- food and family time totally trump long run time. Hands down.
2. MOVING!!! We have the neighbors from hell and I am SOOOO excited about actually having a HOUSE! With STAIRS! And our very own washer and dryer! NO MORE QUARTERS!!!!!!! It's really snuck up on me and I can't believe we're ACTUALLY moving in a week. Crazy! I'll always have a sweet spot for our apartment, as it was the first place we lived in as a married couple... but, GET ME OUTTA THERE!!

Two Blogs I Read Everyday:
1. http://www.hungryrunnergirl.com/ - I love Janae. She's so adorable and positive and sweet.
2. http://346living.com/ - Great DIY ideas that I'll probably never actually do. Hey, a girl can dream.

Two TV Shows I Last Watched:
1. Real Housewives of OC Reunion. Yeah, I'm busted. Whatever. It's just plain good trashy, drama-filled TV. Get over it.
(source)
2. Seinfeld re-run. There was NOTHING on TV last night. It was this or nothing. I love Seinfeld, but definitely don't watch it often. I probably haven't watched another episode in at least a year. More likely 2 or 3. It was good for a few laughs.

Thursday, June 28, 2012

Two Thing Thursday: Miley Cyrus and Real Housewives of OC

There is not enough coffee in the world to put a pep in my step today. I didn't sleep great, so I'm GRUMPY. I skipped the morning workout in favor of TRYING to get more sleep. That was a bust. I'll get my 6 miles in this afternoon, where it will hopefully give me that wonderful post-run energy to get me through the rest of the day. I had big plans to clean the apartment and go through one of our hallway closets tonight (we're moving in a month, so I want to start going through stuff now to make the move easier). We'll see if any of that'll happen. My votes on me, curled up on the couch, watching the end of True Blood.

Ok... onto Two Thing Thursday. Enjoy!

Two Songs I'm Currently Obsessed With:
1. Paradise by Coldplay
2. Toy Soldier by Britney Spears
Don't judge. I love me some Britney. Ok, not some. ALL. I love ALL Britney. I'm obsessed. I've been a fan since she came out. I vividly remember buying the "Hit Me Baby One More Time" SINGLE when it first came out (remember when you could buys just CD SINGLES? Crazy!). Is she a great singer? Nah. But, her music is catchy and fun and I love it. Great gym music.

Two Random Things In My Purse:
1. A pair of white gym socks.
2. SEVEN pens. Who needs even two ink pens in their purse, let alone seven??

Two Things I Did at Work Today:
1. Gave a presentation to parents on connecting with our universtiy via social media
2. Walked around campus like a mad woman for over a mile between meetings

Two Foods I Can't Get Enough Of:
1. Special K Sour Cream and Onion Chips.
(source)
I'm a volume eater. I enjoy the act of simply eating. So, these chips, while they have no nutritional value or merit... they are the BOMB. You get like 27ish chips for 110 calories or something. Plus, they're GOOD. I love SC&O flavored chips. YUM!
2. Chocolate covered, PB filled pretzel nugget things. I bought the Hubs a big bin from TJ's for his birthday earlier this month and somehow (I honestly have NO idea how and am freaking amazed!) they've lasted this long. Every few days I grab a handful. They are one of my favorite sweets. SO good.

Two Random Facts About Me:
1. My iPhone case is red. It used to be purple, but I dropped it so many times the case cracked (better the case than the phone!). I miss the purple one.
2. I've been listening to the same Pandora station (Run. Radio) for over 2 weeks at work everyday. I'm a smidge obsessed.

Two Random Facts About the Hubs and Me:
1. Almost every week there is at least 1 type of left over pizza in our fridge. It's the Hubs favorite food and we get or make it almost once every week.
2. When we moved in together we found out we had several of the same DVDs (even though our taste in movies is almost totally opposite), so we took them to a used DVD store and got enough money to take oursevles out to dinner our first night living together.

Two Things I'm Looking Forward to This Weekend:
1. A long run! I have 13 on the schedule and I can't wait! I need some good, quailty ME + RUNNING time. Best therapy ever. However, mother nature might have some other ideas...

UGH! Hopefully both the storms and the heat will hold off at least for Saturday from 6am-8am.
2. Coffee date with two friends I haven't seen in a while. We all used to work together, but they've both gotten new jobs so we've scattered. BOO. Anyway-- I miss them and am super excited to see them for a coffee date. PLUS, it's a GREAT excuse to buy one of those $12398 fancy coffee drinks. Double bonus!

Two Celebrities I Like (even though I shouldn't):
1. Miley Cyrus. I KNOW! She's SO annoying and blah, blah, blah. I can't help it. I just think she's so stinking cute!

2. Mandy Moore. I don't even think this should count in this category b/c I think she's completely likeable and I am not ashamed at ALL to love the crap outta her. Mandy Moore in movies, love it. Mandy Moore songs, love them. Mandy Moore = love.

Two Show I'm Watching:
1. Real Housewives of Orange County. AHHHH! I know! SO SO SO BAD! Whatever. Don't judge. It's just GOOD, bad reality TV. I only watch 2 of the Real Housewives. I promise. OC and NYC. Whatever. I love it. No appologies here.

2. TRUE BLOOD!!!! Ahhhh!!!! I have 2 more episodes left in Season 4. And, yes-- I did JUST start it a few days ago. I'm obsessed.
(source)
I mean... just LOOK at that freaking Rolling Stones cover. Damn. The shows a little crazy, a lot of bloody, a whole lotta R-rated-ness... but, I love it.
