Don't Make Me Punch Someone

Woah! Didn't mean to fall off the face of the planet there for a few days. Work's been hella busy and blah, blah, excuse, excuse. Life. Happens.

Anyway... nothing much new to report.

Running is still nonexistent which makes me SAD and ANGRY and GRUMPY. Add that to all these wonderful preggo hormones and thank your lucky stars you're not the Hubs the past few weeks. Poor guy.

Anyway, this is how I feel lately:

Argh! The most frustrating part (for my non logical brain right now) is that everyone I know who finds out I'm pregnant is like "Oh, well you're not running anymore are you??" Because clearly they are my doctor and know that it CAN'T be healthy for a woman to run while pregnant <insert clear sarcasm>. Anyway- I want to yell back at each and every one of them "YES! I AM! And, I'm ROCKING IT!!" but, I can't. And, it's NOT because I'm all preggo. It's this DAMN KNEE. Arrrrrgh. I know, I know. I'm being ridiculous. Again- be glad you're not the Hubs. He has to deal with this crazy 24/7 and can't just "X" out of the Internet window.

Back to the point... of COURSE when I tell people I'm still working out a lot, but not RUNNING right now due to some knee pain, NOT due to being knocked up, they tell me about how bad running is for the knees. Again, because they are a doctor (and a running expert).

At this point I have to just walk away before getting in a fist fight at 17 weeks pregnant. The Hubs would not be a happy guy if he had to bail me outta jail.

So, what am I doing about this knee pain, so that I can run again (obviously), which will lead to an all around happier Meagan (thus a happier Hubs) and me not punching anyone in the face because my answer will be able to change to "YES! I AM RUNNING!"?

1. Resting... a lot. In the past 2 1/2 weeks I've only run once (the Firecracker 5 Mile Race) and it was a slower, easy run. But, yes, there was pain. Ugh. I've been sticking to non-running (aka: not nearly as much fun) sweaty activities. The elliptical and I are now BFF's. Spinning is a go-to and even strength has become semi-regular.
Me and the 8-Minute Arms crew are on a first name basis now.

2. Foam rolling. And, foam rolling some more. And more and more and more (you get the point).
Here's the thing about foam rolling right now, though... it's REALLY awkward and uncomfortable. It doesn't HURT (I mean, any more than it's supposed to in that hurts so good kinda way), but it does make my belly feel weird and just... off. As my belly keeps growing, I'm sure it's going to be harder and harder to foam roll so I'm hoping I can stick with it long enough to be magically cured before the belly gets much bigger. Hear that, knee?? You've got a time table here!

3...

Wait.... that's about it.

Clearly, there's a lot I have not been doing, but probably should. Things like:

1. Icing.

Oh, the good old days of compression gear, icing, and alcohol. What a great combo! Hard to believe this pic is like a year old. Crazy how times have changed!

Anyway... I used to be REALLY good about icing whatever parts hurt, but have been mega slacking on this area. I've iced ONCE in the last 2 1/2 weeks. Not exactly the kind of consistency change or recovery is made of.

2. The strength moves the Athletic Trainer talked to me about the last time my knees were being jerk faces. I haven't done these at all and while I think the foam rolling had a WAY bigger impact on recovery last time, I'm sure these didn't HURT and I need to start doing them. Like, now.

3. Trying to run more often. Ok, this might sound weird... but, I haven't even TRIED to run any more often because I figure if it hurts to walk, it's gonna hurt to run. Well, true (duh). Buuuuut--- if it doesn't make it hurt any WORSE, why not run (while continuing to do all the fix-it tricks, I promise)! I'm not talking anything crazy... but, a quick 3-4 miler or something here or there.

So, I'm going to try to run this weekend. Somewhere in the less than 5 mile range.

It'll look like that except in about a quarter as much clothes.

Hopefully the heat'll cooperate. I anticipate LOTS of walking breaks and sloooow miles and I'm 100% OK with that. I just wanna get out there, see how the knee feels, and remember what it feels like to have that "Weeeeee!!!! I LOVE RUNNING!!!!" feeling.

Wish me luck!

Football, Run, and Foam Rolling

Boo! Can you believe the weekend’s over already??? On the brightside—it’s a 3 day week!!!! Can’t wait! But, before we can get to this coming weekend, let’s chat about this past weekend.

It was a WHIRLWIND weekend (again). The Hubs, the in-laws and I headed out Friday night for Champaign, Illinois to see the University of Illinois (my Alma mater) v Purdue (the Hubs and FIL Alma mater) football game Saturday. We stayed with my FIL’s cousin, which was great. We didn’t get in til late Friday, but stayed up for a bit to visit. Then, Saturday we woke up to a HUGE breakfast (blueberry pancakes! My fav!!) and then headed onto campus to tailgate (aka: consume MORE food and alcohol) and then football it up!

Sadly, my Illini couldn’t pull out a win. Now, the Hubs had bragging rights all year. BOOOO. Next time!

Fun random story: The Hubs and I actually got married on the day these teams played football last year. We didn’t even plan it! I swear! Anyway—we're both HUGE fans of our respective Alma maters. Proof?
Yup-- I had an Illinois garter at the wedding. LOVED it.

So anyway-- we agreed that the loser of the game on our wedding would have to sing the winners team fight song at the wedding. Well, it didn’t exactly go down like that… but, when word came out during pre-ceremony pics that my poor Illini lost (again) I did get the pleasure of having all of the Hubs groomsmen (who also went to Purdue) and the Hubs serenade me with the Purdue fight song. Such a loving pre-wedding moment.
Me showing the boys my "gratitude" after they YELLED the Purdue fight song to me.

Anyway... back to this weekend... so, we footballed all day Saturday. The Illini didn't come out on top. Boo. We headed back home Saturday night and ended up getting home right around 11:30pm. Not too bad, though clearly WAY past my bedtime.

Sunday we slept in a bit, but were still up by 9am. I decided I wanted to TRY a "long run". I got dressed, powered the Garmin up, and headed out the door, telling the Hubs I was going out for anywhere between 6-10 miles.

A hour and 41 minutes later-- I couldn't stop smiling.

11.25 miles. 9:03 average pace-- say WHAAAT?!?!?! ALL negative splits. Without me ever looking at my watch til the LAST mile, where I PUSHED it to get a 8:20is pace! And, most importantly-- PAINFREE. Every step. PAINFREE. Seriously-- you couldn't wipe the smile off my face for the rest of the day.

I honestly would have done more if I had brought some fuel with me. But, I didn't eat breakfast before I left, didn't have any Gu or anything, and KNEW I shouldn't push it anymore, so I called it then. It's runs that Sunday's that makes me wonder why ANYONE ever runs less miles when they can run more? Salty face? Check. Sore legs? Check. Gross, sweaty smell? Check. 11.25 glorious, perfect miles? CHECK.

I did a quick round of 8-minute arms and 8-minute abs when I got home and then spent the rest of Sunday running errands, relaxing, icing, foam rolling. The knee ached for the rest of the day and I woke up this morning with sore shins and the knee still a bit achy, so decided against a run this morning and stuck to Spinning instead. I might try to go out for a few miles after work today... we'll see. Either way, I'm still riding my Sunday long-run runner's high.

A tale of two 6 mile runs

Yesterday after work I stopped by to talk to the athletic trainer who I've been talking to and who's been helping me with my knee. I'm still going to do a full post on what exactly is going on with the knee and what I've been doing for recovery. Promise. Soon.

Anyway-- as I said yesterday, I was stopping bye to get Kinesio taped up. I emailed her during the day about her thoughts on it, planning to buy a roll online. She replied and just told me to stop by and that she'd tape me up so I could see how it felt before buying a whole roll. SCORE!

So, I went by and she taped it up. I should've taken a pic, but I'm a blogger failure so I didn't. Basically, it was a Y shape starting just below the knee as the base of the 'Y' and then having each arm-part of the Y be going up each side on my knee. It didn't really feel like anything. I couldn't tell there was tape on it, but it also didn't immediately make anything feel wonderfully different either (though the knee isn't hurting when I just walk, so it was hard to tell).

So, I got home and immediately rushed around the house like a madwoman to get changed, lace up the Mizuno's, and hit the pavement.
I got in 6 miles before calling it-- more due to the darkness than anything else. WHY does it have to get SOOOO dark so early?? Luckily, I leave SUPER close to a college campus, so I can run around there and have LOTS of lights, people walking around, campus police roaming, emergency call stations, etc. I felt 100% safe the entire time.

Anyway, we got off track-- the Kinesio tape. Back to the run and the tape. Unfortunately, I honestly didn't feel a big difference. It definitely didn't HURT, but I still had super sharp pangs of pain on the right knee throughout the run. Each burst of pain would last about 5 seconds and then fade. When there wasn't a burst, I felt NO pain. Weirdly, the last 1.5 miles I had NO bursts of pain. Weird. The first few miles, though, they were all too common and several brought me to a complete stop they hurt so badly. BOO.

Anyway, I belted out just over 6 miles at about a 9:45/mile pace. And, for the record-- I didn't stop the watch any of the times I came to a stop from the pain, nor did I stop it when I SIGNIFICANTLY slowed down the times I almost came to a stop, but kinda limped through it. I was MORE than happy with my pace knowing that and especially since it felt like I was going MUCH slower. I didn't look at my watch once the whole time and felt like I was going SO SLOW. I excepted more like 10:45 paces, so I was thrilled with the 9:45 pace, even if it wasn't that fast.

So, I don't think I'm going to buy a roll of the tape. I'll try it again (the Athletic Trainer gave me an extra strip) using a different placement for the tape to see if that changes anything. All in all though, I'd say it didn't work for me. I've heard it works for others, though. So, to me-- it's kinda like compression gear. Not a TON of research saying it really does anything... but, if it works for you-- GO FOR IT.

Anyway, post run I did manage to get some Jillian action in.
Look at me-- all doing what I said I was going to do! Miracles do happen every now and then! I did Jillian's 30-Day Shred, Level 2 with 8-pound hand weights. Let me just say, for the record, JILLIAN KICKS MY ASS. You'd think-- oh, you just ran 6 miles! A 20-minute workout video'll be a piece of cake. Yeah-- you'd be WRONG. Girl is HARD. CORE. I love it! I love that she kinda yells at you via video, but not really. I love that she gets on the girls who are in the video too. I just love Jillian. I'd volunteer to spend a month at the Biggest Loser ranch any day. Difference between me and the people who actually do get to go (besides a couple pounds)?? I think it'd be fun! Like, a lot of fun. So, Jillian-- if you ever read this and want to make a girls day, call me and invite me on over to the ranch. :)

Notice my BFF the foam roller there on the floor. Me and my blue friend have been spending TONS of quality time together the last 2 weeks. The Athletic Trainer has me on some serious foam rolling orders that I'm following to the letter. The Hubs has been jealous that I'm spending more time with my blue BFF than him. Poor guy.

Speaking of the Hubs... guess who worked late last night and when he finally did get home, came with the best surprise a girl could ask for?!?!?

FRO YO!!!! What a surprise! It was damn good, too! Now... just don't tell the Hubs I had actually gotten fro yo earlier that day at lunch with a friend.

Fro yo twice in the same day? SCORE. Thanks, Hubs!!!! :) :) :)

Today started out kinda rough. I had a really hard time sleeping last night, so I decided to skip the gym again this morning. BOO. I can't start doing this all the time. MUST. GET. UP. EARLY. AGAIN.

Anyway, luckily I did have time to get a workout in at lunch. I decided to try for a run with a goal of 4 miles.

WOOWOO! 6.25 miles FASTER than the 6 were last night! A 9:13/mile pace. With negaitve splits. Without looking at my watch. And, again-- it felt like I was going SO slow. LOVE when that happens. What do I love even better?? (Might want to sit down for this next part)

IT WAS 100% PAINFREE!!!

I have no idea how or why. But, I will TAKE it. I didn't change anything really about the run. Well, maybe that's not true... today I did wear my Brooks Ravennas and yesterday I wore my Mizuno Wave Precision 12's. Maybe that made a HUGE difference. I don't think so, because I've worn both of them in the past 2 weeks and have pain both of them... but, the Ravenna's definitely give more support than the Precisions, so it might have something to do with it. I also iced and foam rolled this morning, since we're headed out of town this weekend and I won't have time tonight. I'm thinking that might have the biggest impact. Interesting. I'll definitely remember this and if I run Sunday, I'll definitely be foam rolling and icing BEFORE and after the run and we'll see how that goes.

Anyway-- back to today's run-- I loved every second. The sun was shining. The weather was perfect. It was perfect. One of those runs that reminds me WHY I LOVE to run. Perfection. Absolute perfection.

I'm worried it might have been a fluke... I have no idea how today's run was painfree when just yesterday's wasn't. I have no idea. And, you know what-- I don't really care right now. All I know is it didn't hurt and that is wonderful! It was a glorious run. If the next run isn't painfree, I'll cross that bridge when I come to it. For now, I'll GLADLY take every single painfree step I can get.

Best start to the weekend ever. Ever.

Hope your weekend starts just as great as mine did!

5am : Not Happening. Turkey Trot: HAPPENING!

Raise your hand if you had EVERY intention of getting up this morning for the gym but when your alarm clock started blaring at 5am you just could NOT talk yourself into getting out of bed... just me?? Whoops!

Yup. I re-set it for 6:40am, rolled back over and passed back out. No workout for me this morning.

Is it just me or as the weather gets colder is it SO MUCH HARDER to get up in the morning?? And, there's not even snow to deal with yet! Ugh. I'm not sure how I'm going to handle this. Last year around this time, while I was working out a lot, I wasn't quiet as committed as I am now AND I was working out AFTER work, not before. It's just SO hard to get the motivation to get outta bed at 5am when it's SO cold out!

Now, I loooooove working out before work. I think it sets the whole day up to be a good day and there's SO MANY less excuses I can use to talk myself out of it. When I leave my workout til after work (like today), it's just SO easy to spend all 9 hours at work talking myself out of working out later.... I have too much to do around the house, I have a head ache, I'm too tired, etc.

HOPEFULLY today I can fight that... I set my clothes out to go for a short 5-mile-ish run when I get home. Hopefully already having them set out will help. Plus, now that it gets SO DARK SO EARLY around here the extra 10 minutes will definitely help. Then, I'm going to try to do Jillian's 30-Day Shred (Level 2) after the run. That's the plan. Putting it on the blog means I HAVE to do it, right???

Oh, and-- I'm trying Kinesio tape on my knee tonight for the first time.
(Not my knee... but, this is often how Kinesio tape is used on "Runner's Knee" and/or patellar tendonitis which is what I've been officially diagnosed with.)

What is Kinesio tape? (source)

Kinesio Taping gives support and stability to your joints and muscles without affecting circulation and range of motion. It is also used for Preventive Maintenance, Edema, and to treat pain.
Kinesio Taping is a technique based on the body's own natural healing process. This Kinesio Taping exhibits its efficacy through the activation of neurological and circulatory systems.

The Kinesio Taping Method is applied over muscles to reduce pain and inflammation, relax overused tired muscles, and to support muscles in movement on a 24hr/day basis. It is non-restrictive type of taping which allows for full range of motion.

I think that alone will make me want to run after work to see if it helps at all. I've never tried it and heard a lot of mixed things. An athletic trainer I know (the one who's been helping me w/ this whole stupid knee injury) is hooking me up with some take and is going to tape it up for me. If I like it, I'll buy a full roll and go from there. I'll keep you posted.

In other news, I registered for another race yesterday! Relax-- it's not another marathon (boo!).

A 5K on Thanksgiving! The Hubs and I are spending this holiday with his family (we split up the holidays and change every year... so, last year we spent t-giving with my fam, this year with his) and when I found out where we'd be I immediately started researching turkey trots. I've never done one, so I am SO excited!!

What makes me even MORE excited is that my father-in-law is doing it too!
That's me and my FIL during our first 5K together! BEST. FATHER IN LAW. EVER. And, I mean ever. I hit the in-law jackpot with both my MIL and my FIL. JACKPOT.

He's gotten much more into running pretty much over the same time frame I have. It's so exciting to see him get excited about it! I love it!! I cannot wait to run it with him... now, I'll just have to decide if we're going to run it together or if I'm going to try to beat the socks off of him! Oh, and the Hubs signed up too! You KNOW I'm going to have to try to beat him!! :) Regardless of who beats whom-- it'll be a great time and a nice way to get a LITTLE movement in before COPIOUS amounts of food are consumed all. day. long.

Weekend plans

It's FRIDAY!!! So excited for the weekend. We've got some big plans going on in this neck of the woods.

Well, the Hubs and I are certainly starting off our weekend on quite the exciting foot.

I swear... we are constantly doing laundry. We just did 2 loads on Tuesday. It's FRIDAY. How? How do we still have laundry to do?? I honestly do not know how we physically managed to only do laundry once a week before we had our own washer and dryer. Mind = baffled.

Hint for washing sweaty workout clothes: add a big splash of white vinegar, a spoonful of baking soda, and Tide with Febreeze while your washer is filling up with water. Then add the sweaty nasty clothes. Sit back and drink a glass of wine. Hang dry. Be amazed. Works wonders every time.

In addition to our exciting laundry filled Friday night, we're also gonna do some grocery shopping AND some house cleaning.

It's funny because it's kinda true. Danger.

Saturday is when the REAL fun starts... first, we have a local, small, family run 5K that we're doing with my in-laws. And, the HUBS is going to RUN!! SOOOO excited! This'll be good for 2 reasons: 1. I get to run with the Hubs! My two favorite things in the world, combined! 2. He'll stop me from running too fast and hurting my knee any more. God knows I can't be trusted to not run faster than planned on my own. Remember?

I'm also SUPER pumped for this 5K because I'm going to try out my new shoes on a longer-than-one-mile run!

Seriously- I'm WAY too excited about this. Whatev. Don't judge.

Post 5K (and, unshowered-- you're welcome in advance, friends), we're heading to meet some very good friends at a pumpkin patch for our annual friends & fun filled fall day (yes, the day has a name!). CANNOT WAIT. Pumpkins! Cider! Doughnuts! Hay rides! Corn mazes! CAN'T WAIT!!! Seriously-- I'm beyond excited.

Then, Sunday the Hubs and I are celebrating our 1-year wedding anniversary (which is technically on Monday). VERY excited to spend the whole day just us. Vomit, I know. :)

I'm also secretly hoping that if Saturday's 5K goes well I might be able to get in a semi "long" run of like 6ish miles on Sunday morning while the Hubs sleeps in. FINGERS CROSSED!

Hope all you have a fabulous weekend too! I'll leave you with a little Pinterest stolen inspiration...

ONE mile

1 mile.

That was the goal.

Just ONE mile.

Seems so silly after running 26.2 2 short weeks ago.

Regardless-- one mile was all I could think about. all. day. long.

Did I have hopes to MAYBE keep going and get a few more? Ok, fine. Yes. But-- whatever. The GOAL was one mile. One glorious, non-pain-filled mile.

SUCCESS!! Ok, technically the garmin says .98, but 1- that's close enough and 2- I forgot to hit start til a few steps in, so I'm sure it was a full mile.

How'd it feel?? GOOD. GREAT. AMAZING. PAIN freaking FREE. I couldn't have been happier.

I KNOW it's a bit faster than I wanted. I was going for a 10-minute mile. Honestly, it would have been even faster, but I was running with someone and wanted to stay together. Thank goodness for her because I'm sure otherwise I would have gone crazy and tried some sub 8:00 pace and been STUPID MEAGAN. As it was, I ended up being semi-not-so-smart Meagan. I'll take that.

Post-mile I had to pick up my neon-orange race shirt (love it!) and was SOOOO tempted to do 2 more to see how it kept feeling, buuuuut-- I didn't! It was pretty chilly and I only had on a t-shirt and shorts. Plus, I was carrying this extra t-shirt now and I didn't have my iPod. PLUS, my friend didn't want to run anymore. So, I decided to listen to everything telling me not to push it and stopped at 1. Good thing too, since it started raining about 3 minutes later.

Anyway- 1 glorious mile down. The smile across my face was outta control.

On the walk back to my car, I'll admit-- my knee started feeling a little... odd. Not hurting. But, not normal either. I can't much describe it, but it was a very faint feeling, but noticeable. Now, I think that might have a teeeeny, tiny bit to do with my mental state. Ya know... the post-injury crazies where you think EVERY LITTLE twing is a full blown down-for-the-count injury? Yeah. Those. The kinda "off" feeling was gone before I even got home.  Regardless, I iced when I got home and stayed off it the rest of the night.

Today, it feels FINE. And, believe me-- I was SOOOO tempted to return to good ol' treadmill and test it out more... but, I resisted. ME. Woah. I decided I'd rather rest it again today and then see how the 5K goes tomorrow. WOOOOAH. Did I just make a SMART decision? Don't worry, I won't make a habit of it.

For now, I'll continue to bask in my post-ONE MILE runners high glow. Fingers crossed tomorrow's 5K just adds to the glow!

First Run Post Marathon

So, yesterday I went out for my first run post-marathon.

I am loosely following this plan for my recovery. So, as Hal (yup, we're on a first name basis) suggested-- I took Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday as full, 100% rest days. No "easy" spin class. No yoga. No 8-minute Abs. No nothing. Except a WHOLE lot of fro yo (hey, lifting the spoon to the mouth so many times has gotta count as exercise, right?!?!).

By yesterday, I was ITCHING to get back out to SOMETHING. Yes, I wanted to run. But, more so-- I just wanted to do SOMETHING. I am SO used to sweating everyday that it felt SO bizarre to just STOP. And, I could literally feel myself become lazier by the second. A body in rest likes to stay in rest. I really didn't want to let doing nothing become a new norm.

PLUS, one of my very good friends was going to be in town and wanted to get a few slow, shake out miles in before her first marathon.

She got into town around 6pm and by 6:15pm we had our Brooks' laced up and we were out the door.

She wanted to do 4 miles around a 10-10:30 pace and that sounded PERFECT to me. I KNEW if I went out on my own, I'd go faster so this was GREAT timing. Ok, ok-- so Hal says 2 miles for novice runners (I count myself as that, for sure)... 4 isn't exactly 2, but whatever.

Look who DIDN'T run too fast? Almost a perfect 10:30 pace! Look at me... LEARNING.

The weather was gorgeous, the company was fabulous and I felt pretty good overall.

Kinda.

My left hamstring was still pretty tight before we started and it definitely got tighter and tighter with each step. By the end of our 4 it felt about as tight as it can get. Not so good.

Worse? Yeah... there's a worse. My right knee started HURTING around mile 2.5 and didn't let up. I've never had knee pain when running. I had LOTS of knee issues when I was a kid, but never since. My knees don't hurt when running. They just don't. But, man... this time, it did. I toughed it out and finished the 4 miles. Maybe that was stupid, but hey-- we were running TO dinner... I had to keep going!? Food was on the line. Anyway-- the knee definitely started hurting more and more as we neared the 4 marker. Not good.

I was hoping it'd fade by the time we were done with dinner, but sure enough when I stood up from the table I immediately felt it.

And, it hurts.

NOT GOOD.

I was going to run again this morning (Against Hal's plans. Sorry, Hal.), but didn't. Instead I was punished with the elliptical. I took it easy. Really, I just wanted to move and start getting back in the 5am wake up call habit.

So, after a few curse words at my alarm, I got up and hit the elliptical for an easy 60 minutes. Luckily, I had some interesting reading material.

This man is crazy, but it's a great read so far. Super interesting and... I mean, he's just crazy so there's that.

Anyway... I was hoping the elliptical would kinda loosen it up. And, while it didn't HURT when I was doing it or make it hurt any more-- the knee's definitely still hurting just as much. Going up and down stairs feels is like torture right now. Can't lie-- it's making me a bit nervous. Hopefully it's just kinda a fluke-y post-marathon thing and will go away with a bit more rest. I'm going to ice like a mad woman tonight as well. I'm taking today off running. I was HOPING to do a few (3-4) slow miles again tomorrow, but now I'm definitely teetering on that idea. We'll see. If there's any soreness still in the knee tomorrow, I'm going to pass. I really, really, really don't want to be injured. The idea of not being able to run for an extended period of time makes my skin crawl, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed, committing to not doing anything stupid like pushing it while the knee is still acting up and really listening to my body right now. I have a half in 2 weeks that I'd really like to run hard on... but, if the knees still acting up and not 100% then it's not in the cards. Bleah.

So, I did my first official post-marathon run. Hopefully the issues are just a few small kinks/cobwebs and will fade quickly.

Anyway... happy Friday, all! And, a special GOOD LUCK to my very good friend on her first marathon this weekend! Run smart, run hard! GOOD LUCK!!

The Day After

Well, I survived!

26.2 (or 26.7+, depending on who you ask!) later and I'm alive and... well, alive!

I've never been this sore, but I'll admit I was expecting worse. I can walk... and go up and down stairs, though both with a little waddle and not exactly pain free.

I passed out last night at about 10pm and slept pretty solid til 8am this morning. I honestly think I woke up so early simply because I was SO sore and my body needed to move around a bit.

Anyway, I got up and then made and devoured (a huge) breakfast. Then, I layed around and graded some papers and watched Desperate Housewives on Netflix Instant.

I pretty much stayed in the same spot til lunch... left over pizza with a side of more Desperate Housewives and compression socks.

At 12:30 I finally made my way out of the house and went to work. I took today off, but still had to teach.

By 2:15pm class was out and I was on my way to my massage!! I was SOOOO excited for this!

The massage felt GREAAAT! But, I'm definitely still sore and it didn't do the wonders I was hoping for. Oh well.

One thing that DID do wonders for my rumbling tummy was FRO YO!
Best post-marathon gift to myself ever.

After fro yo I came home and wrote my expo-blog. Now, it's time to put my legs up and zone out in front of the TV for the rest of the night.

G'night all!!

(The rest of the marathon re-cap is still coming... I promise!)
