I’m Meagan!
I’m 32 and still figuring this crazy thing called life out.
I started running by accident. Yup--accident. In June of 2011 a friend suggested we participate in a local race by WALKING the 5K and just enjoy the race environment and each other’s company. Great. No problem! I pretty much knew I could manage to walk a 5K. Pretty much. I made no promises of not falling or of being good company. About a week before the 5K she had to bail because she had a wedding that weekend. Well, I already shelled out the registration money (and I’m pretty cheap) so I decided to do it alone. I had been going to the gym, ellipticalling and going to spinning classes a few times a week, so I figured what the heck. I got to the race and must have drank the koolaide or something because I decided to start running-- just to see how far I could go. So, off I went. And went. And went. The whole way. Without stopping. It wasn’t a fast 5K (I honestly don’t even know my official time… I’d guess about 38+ minutes), but I didn’t stop. I was not a runner. I was the girl in high school who walked and gossiped in the back of gym class when we were supposed to be running the mile. No shame. After that 5K, I decided to test out the whole running thing so I went out the next day and ran again. No idea how far or how fast (how I lived pre-Garmin I still don’t know!) I went-- I just ran. And I fell in love. And I’ve been running and falling more and more in love with running every day.

Speaking of love…. I got married in October 2011 and life as a newlywed is great! The Hubs is a Chemical Engineer and loves all things nerd. Which is good, since I am, in fact, a not-so-closet nerd. The Hubs is great and supports me in everything I do. I couldn't be happier and love being in love (vomit, I know).
The Hubs and I welcomed adopted our dog, Sadie, in 2012. She's the laziest, sweetest dog in the world and I am completely obsessed with her.
After about a year of being a family of 3, we welcomed our perfect daughter, B.
She is the light of my life and I am completely obsessed with her. I never knew or could have even guessed what being a mom would be like or how it would completely change my life in every possible way, and now that I am a mom, I am completely in love with it. It's the greatest. Sure, there are days when I'm covered in poo or vomit (or both) and I can't remember the last time I haven't had an audience when I peed, but it doesn't even matter. I'm couldn't be happier.
The Hubs and I have been working on expanding our family for longer than I'd like to admit. We're currently in the midst of exploring Secondary Infertility.
Since my first 5K, I’ve run a handful more 5Ks and finished my first half marathon exactly 1 week before our wedding. I just finished my first marathon and, while it hurt like a beast, loved every step and am officially hooked. I spent the car ride home already contemplating my next.

Thanks for stopping by and joining me as I run through this crazy journey called life! Hope my spelling errors and bad grammer didn't scare you off! :)
Hey, I'm considering doing my first marathon too. I've been doing half marathons in mean time though. We can motivate eachother. ;)
ReplyDeleteHow fun!! You should definitely do it!!! Though I can't speak from experience (yet)-- I hear it's one of the most rewarding things you can go through and I CANNOT WAIT!!!
DeleteGreat plan!!! Let's definitely motivate each other! :)
Hi there! I think you have done an amazing job with running and this blog! Thanks for continuing to support me and most of all inspire me! I nominated you for the "One Lovely Blog" award! Details are on my site!
ReplyDeleteHey Meagan--Are you planning on a marathon this year? Looks like you have some great goals!!
ReplyDeleteI am doing Chicago this year. I am super excited!!
Aw! Thanks!
DeleteI'm not "planning" on a marathon right now. I was, and then I wasn't, and then I was, and then I wasn't... ugh! It was a TOUGH choice!!! Right now, I'm not. BUT, I'm not 100% ruling one out right now either. I know I want to do another one... just not sure when. I'll keep you posted!
Chicago is AMAZING! I mean, it kicked my ass about every way imaginable, but it was still an amazing experience!!! GOOD LUCK!!!!!! If I can help with anything, let me know! :)
