5 Stiches Later

Yesterday I had a doctor’s appointment to have a “suspicious looking mole” removed. 5 stiches later, the sucker is gone and off to be biopsied. I’m not too concerned, but to say that it’s not a little nerve wracking would be a lie. I was going to take a pic of it… when the Hubs said it looked pretty “gnarly” I decided to spare you all. To the two people you read this, you’re welcome.

I did, of course, ask how this would affect the whole I love to run thing. The doc said I should be able to run today and as much as I’d like as long as it didn’t hurt.

I was thiiiiiiiiiiiiis close to going straight to the gym to do a light hour on the elliptical right after I left the doctor’s office, but I decided it was on the side of crazy to workout less than 5 minutes after having your leg literally cut into. Good choice, Meagan.

I also got blood work back on my tummy-issues. It’s kinda complicated and essentially the results are inconclusive, so I’m going to keep using the benefiber and see how things keep feeling. If they still feel crummy over the next month, I’ll schedule a meeting with a GI. Uuuugh. I swear, I’ve seen been to the doctors (and/or dentist) over the last year than I have in my entire life… total. And, I’m OVER it.

So, that’s really all that’s new with me. Life’s pretty boring right now. I did 10 miles on Sunday. 10 very sweaty, hot miles. I went to a non-noteworthy spinning class yesterday. I skipped my morning workout today because I didn’t get to bed til after midnight (gasp! That’s even after my WEEKEND bedtime!!). So, I forgo the sweat session for extra sleep. I think I’ll get in a few miles after work… but, to be honest the leg is definitely not feeling great, so we’ll see.

Sorry for no pics today. I'm lame, I know.

Fro Yo and Flowers Make Everything Better

I didn’t run yesterday and I will not run today. This whole tapering thing pretty much blows.  BUUUT- I’m doing it. I’m really trying to let my body REST in prep for this 25K. And guess what? The legs feel pretty freaking awesome today.

Yesterday I started the day off with an hour on the elliptical. Boring, but whatever. I had a busy day at work that that MUCH better when I got back from a meeting to these:

Just because flowers from the Hubs. Makes an otherwise kinda crummy taper-filled Thursday MUCH better.

After I got my special flower delivery, I had to leave work early because I had a dentist appointment. Uuuuugh.

I had a super old cavity that needed to be removed and fixed with a crown. OMG. SO painful. The dentist stopped at one point because she thought I was hyperventilating. I pretty much was. Ugh. SO painful. Seriously.

After that torture, I knew three things were needed: a nap, lots of pain meds and fro yo.

Equal parts vanilla fro yo and Reese's Peanut Butter Cup. Much better. And totally healthy. Hello?!?! Peanut Butter??? Healthy. Totally.

I woke up this morning at SEVEN! WOAH! When you’re used to getting up at 5am, 7am feels like sleeping in and it felt great! However, my tooth didn’t seem to get the “YAY! It’s going to be a great day!” memo and started bitching immediately. Ugh. I decided a trip to a local coffee shop for a skinny vanilla latte and a bagel was in order… ya know… to start carb loading—for fuel

Amazing what a vanilla latte can do for your mood. It’s gonna be a great day!

Vanilla lattes aren't the only thing I'm drinking today, don't worry. I’m also hydrating like crazy.
Me and this water fountain (and the bathroom!) have been BFF’s the past 48 hours.

Hydrating? Check. Tapering? Check. Carb loading? Check. I also decided to wear flats to work today (& yesterday!) to help save the legs a lil’.

Look at me being all smart. Now, just a few hours of work, a drive to GR, and a night full of more carb loading stand between me and my first ever 25K.

Can’t wait!!!

Sweat, Tummy, and Moles

I started my Monday morning of in the best way possible: drenched in sweat. J 60-minute spinning class and 2 miles on the treadmill. Felt great! Then, during my lunch hour I got another 4 miles in on the indoor track. Fabulously sweaty day. Loved it.

After sweating (twice!), I had a doctors appointment. I’ve been having some crazy tummy issues (SO attractive, I know) for as long as I can remember and decided it was finally time to get it checked out. Of course, we ended up talking tummy issues and about 100 other things. My doctor had me get some blood drawn to do some test to hopefully see what’s going on with my belly.
Ouch! And, you're welcome for saving you from a pic while I was actually getting the blood taken. that would have been gross and the lady taking my blood would have looked at me like I was a crazy person.

She’s checking for crohns, colitis, and/or a possible gluten allergy. Phew! Should get the results in a few weeks, so we’ll see what happens from there.

We also talked about my weight loss—or rather, lack there of. For the record: I do not work out to lose weight. I work out because I LOVE to sweat. I love working out. It’s a HOBBY and a thing I enjoy—a lot. Buuuut, I’d be completely full of BS if I said a little weight loss wouldn’t be an exciting and welcome perk. I asked the doctor if it was odd that I haven’t lost any weight since I started working out, especially as I track my food and try to stay around 1400-1500 calories/day (OBVIOUSLY some days go WAY over that). She said it was definitely strange, so she’s also having my thyroid checked via my blood work. Hopefully we’ll come up with some answer. Again- I do NOT work out for weight loss, so I’ll keep sweating like crazy weight loss or not. I know, you were MEGA worried you wouldn’t get to see my sweaty pics or hear the word sweat 1000 times a post. Fear not.

I also had her do a “skin check” as just a routine skin-cancer screening. I’ve never had a dermatologist appointment as just a check-up and haven’t seen one for anything in over 10 years. She checked my freckles/moles on my face, arms, legs, back and chest. And, she found something “suspicious”. She said a mole on my lower left thigh looked abnormal, so she scheduled a follow up to have it removed and will send it to the lab from there. She said not to worry—that this was likely simply a precaution, so I’m not worrying. I’ve had moles removed before and it was no biggie.

I told the Hubs they were going to “chop it off” and he was like “Oh, ok… that sound good” and I replied “it’s GOOD they’re going to chop off my leg???”. He freaked. He did NOT think that was a funny joke. I, however, couldn’t stop laughing. I’m not one to worry about these sorts of things til there’s actually something to worry about (which is kinda funny since I am a HUGE worry-wart in general). And, right now- there’s nothing to worry about. So, I’m not. Simple as that. I would, however, suggest that you ask your general practitioner to do a routine skin check up the next time you have an appointment. It took like 3 minutes and didn't remotely hurt. Just a good thing to have checked, just like we have annual female doc appointments, dentist appointments, physicals, etc. Always good to be safe!

I did feel like I earned a little something-something after dinner after getting blood drawn and the stress of the day.
Why do the eggs taste SO much better than the regular cups?? Biggest mystery in life.

Perfect end to the day.
