40 miles running
85 minutes on elliptical
1 Spinning Classes
1 Signature Strength Classes
2.5 mile walk

This week was very run-heavy and gym-class light... basically for no other reason than because I was too f-ing lazy to get my booty outta bed for the 5:30am classes and because it's WAY too easy to run at lunch now that I'm not teaching a class during lunch this semester. I love how I can get runs in at lunch. Amazing. And, now that I've found the boredom buster that is speedwork, it's even better. Anyway-- relatively non-eventful week. Glad I got double digits in on Saturday, even if it was a little broken up.

15 Thing Friday

1. STOP WORRYING! The Hubs and I got the dog hair situation under at least semi-control.

My life, obsessed with Sadie. My friend Kara's life, obsessed with her new baby. Why do I feel her obsession is more legit than mine????
I know, I know-- you were SO worried. It was priority number 1 in our household for a solid week. Clearly we lead exciting lives. Anyway-- turns out the quality of dog food WILL make a difference. The $12 bottle shampoo and $12 bottle of conditioner-- not so much. Lesson learned. I mean, she still sheds. For sure. But, at least I don't feel like I'm COVERED in her hair 24/7 anymore. Progress people.

2. Let's talk some celebrity fashion (all thanks to this source)! How about getting the not-so-good out of the way first...

Beyonce. Come on, girl. You're beautiful, but what on earth is this?? No, no, no.

Oh, Maria Menounos. No. Just no. That slit. Those shoes. The belt. Noooooo.

3. Moving onto the good (still thanks to this source)...
Katy Perry, you are gorgeous. I know this look was controversial and some people hated it. I don't care. I love it. The color, the sleeves, the embellished neckline, the dark hair. Love. Oh, and her boobs look amazing. I mean- I'm just saying. And, OK-- I admit, maybe it's not the BEST, A+ look of the night. But, I think it's better than people gave it credit for.

And, now an A+ look-- Rihanna. Freaking a-mazing. Just perfect. Hair, makeup, flowy red dress. Flawless.
100% over her and Chris Brown... ew, just ewww... but, she looks amazing.

4. The following songs are currently on repeat on my iPod:
"Hey Ho" - The Lumineers (Obsessssssed. There are no words.)
"Highway Don't Care" - Tim McGraw ft. Taylor Swift (yes, it is country. I don't even know who I am anymore.)
"Girl on Fire" - Alicia Keys (I'm late to this party, I know. I just discovered this song and I love it. Great song to run to!)

5. Surprising NO ONE, I'm still obsessed with Dawson's Creek on Netflix Instant. CAN'T STOP WATCHING.

6. The Hubs and I only spent $35 on going out to eat last week.  All week. Including fro yo trips. #winning

7. Um, Kelly Clarkson KILLED it at the Grammy's. Girl can SING. I loved Fun.'s performance too. And the Alicia Keys/Maroon 5 performance?!?! Speechless. Flawless. Love. And, I don't care what anyone says-- I dug T-Swifts performance to. I clearly didn't stay up watching it all (you know I have a 9[m bedtime), but I did catch the performances online.

8. I start this post every Monday just kinda adding a thing or two every day or whenever I find something. This week I was over half done by the end of the day Monday. Then, I wrote nothing til Thursday. This week has been BRUTAL. I am BEAT.

9. I'm proctoring another ACT for young kids Saturday. Let's see if one of them asks me permission to blow their nose again. Good times.

10. People find blogs all sorts of weird ways sometimes. 1 lucky person found mine this week by searching "Should I Workout Today". YES! You should. Just don't ask me if I have worked out yet today. :)
Oh, and that knee tape totally didn't work. At least for me. I'd say save your money and just keep up that damn RICE-ing. Turns out it actually works.

11. The Hubs bball team, Purdue, and my bball team, Illinois, played each other this week. I only bring this up because my Illini WON!!! WOOWOOOOOO!!!!! Even better more interesting, Purdue's head coach got thrown outta the game with a Technical. Wah, wah. I'd be lying if I said I actually WATCHED any of the game, as I was passed out before the first point was scored. Nonetheless, we WON! I-L-L-I-N-I!!!

12. Because of said win (see #11), the Hubs has dish duty for a solid week. We make this bet for every basketball and football game our teams play. This is the FIRST time in our entire marriage RELATIONSHIP that I've WON that bet. I plan to take FULL advantage. Ya know... using a plate just for like 1 chip and then making him wash it. True love, right there.

13. WTF? Really!??!!? This is what TV has come to?? Whyyyyyy would anyone watch this? And, I kinda liked Kendra. Wtf is she thinking??? No, no, nooooo.

14. Remember when the Hubs and I went on a cruise? Can you imagine if it were this cruise instead?? Those poor people. I wonder if I were in that situation if I would be able to keep a semi-cool head and just kinda say "Hey! Extended vaca!!" or if I'd totally freak out and be 100% miserable. I feel like the vomit and feces everywhere would push me far over the edge to miserable-ville.

15. I mean-- it's funny because it's true.

Happy Valentine's Day

I'm totally in the festive Valentine's Day spirit, since I'm using a red font, right???

Meeeeeh. I'm not really a big Valentine's Day fan. I mean-- I appreciate the fact that it kinda makes an otherwise boring Thursday a little more exciting, but overall... kinda a silly, frivolous "holiday" to me. And, yes- I am happily married. But, no- I don't need a holiday to remind me to tell the Hubs how much I love him and blah, blah, blah, vomit, vomit, vomit.

So, the Hubs and I aren't doing anything special for the day. No gifts, no flowers, no fancy dinner out. We said we weren't even doing cards. It was a nice surprise when I woke up and had a cute little note from him in my purse.

Like I said, we have no big plans for the night. Dinner in. Maybe some TV. Torture our poor dog by giving her waaaay too much attention because we're obsessed with her. You know, the usual.

I did call both my sisters this morning to wish them a happy valentine's day and to tell them I love them.
Yes I have 1 of my sisters in my phone as a weird nickname that starts with "Queen J...". That's totally not weird.

They're both in a different time zone and an hour ahead of me, so it was 6:39 and 6:40am to them. J didn't answer, but Natalie did with a quick "Are you OK?? What's wrong???" What?? You mean calling someone before 7am just to wish them a happy valentine's day isn't a normal thing to do??? Haha. Sorry, Nat!!! HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY!!!!

In non-fake holiday and dog news, I've been running. Still obsessed with Yasso 800's (or at least my version of them). It's a freaking killer workout. Sweat just pours out of my me during these beasts. Proof?

Why yes, yes that is sweat on the ends of the sleeves and armpits and neck and back and chest and everywhere else. Sweat galore. What is it about breaking a good sweat that just makes the workout feel that much better?

Anyway- yesterday I did 7.5 miles of 800s (Speeds in 3:40ish, Recovery in 4:50ish) and Monday morning I did 8.5 miles of 800s (Speeds in 3:35ish, Recovery in 4:35ish). Brutal. Kicks my ass. Obsessed.

Today's a rest day. My muscles are crazy sore from a combo of Tuesday's Signature Strength class (at one point we legit did 200 lunges w/ a body bar and with 5 squats every 30 seconds thrown in... ya know... for good measure) and yesterday's speed workout. My poor legs are screaming, so a mid-week rest day is definitely in order.

Ok... well, I suppose I'm out. Happy Valentine's Day. Eat lots of chocolate and tell the people you love how much you love them... just maybe not at 6:40am.

All Over the Place

Be warned. This post is gonna be all over the place. It's just one of those kinda days.

I ran 8.5 miles on the TM before work yesterday.
Seemed like a great idea at the time. I didn't get a long run in over the weekend, there was no morning gym class... seemed kinda perfect. Yeaaaah. Turns out 8.5 miles (oh, and did I mention that I did 8- 800's all at sub 3:50 for speed work because I'm STILL OBSESSED??) is a long way and really freaking wore me out. I was EXHAUSTED all day. I almost fell asleep at my desk. I went over to the gym at lunch and did 45 minutes on the elliptical. I was hoping it'd wake me the F up and mostly I just wanted to watch an episode of Dawson's Creek on the iPad. It did kinda wake me up and I did get to watch some classic 90s melodrama, so it was a win.

Speaking of Dawson's Creek... Katie Holmes totally ran a marathon.

Wanna know what's even more BA than the fact that she ran one (because-- don't hate... she may be kinda nutso, I mean-- she DID marry Tom Cruise-- but, whatever-- she DID RUN A FREAKING MARATHON)?? That I RAN ONE FASTER! She finished in 5:29. I'm just saying... I finished an hour earlier. Boom.

Moving on... the inside of my nose hurts. Right nostril, in case you were dying to know. I don't know what it is... it's not red, I don't feel a bump. Yes, I stuck my finger up my nose to feel (don't pretend like you wouldn't have too). And have continued to stick a finger up my nose about every 10 seconds to see if it still hurts-- it does. I'm dumb.

Last night the Hubs and I met with our financial planner. Just the fact that we HAVE a financial planner makes me feel very, very old. And way too grown up. Like, suddenly I'm not allowed to be an irresponsible person anymore because someone else would know. Keep in mind I couldn't even tell you the last time (if ever?) I truly did something that dramatically "irresponsible"... but, somehow knowing someone else sees all my shit now makes me all panic-y about it. And makes me WANT to do something irresponsible. Totally logical, right??

It's supposed to rain/snow all weekend. Which will lead to yet another long run-less weekend. I know I SHOULD be upset about it... but, I'm kinda not. Not even a little. Hopefully I'm just a little burnt out and will get back to my normal long run loving self soon.

Speaking of running-- turns out speed work makes me freaking HUNGRY. Like, more hungry than after a long run. Weird.

Alright... I feel like I've officially rambled enough for today.

Overall, it was a great week. I'm loving the speed workouts and even the quick hill workout. Didn't get a long run in, but what can ya do? The roads were icy and I just didn't quite feel like it. I figure if I still managed to get 35 miles in without a true "long run" I'm doing pretty good.

15 Thing Friday

1. Let's start with the most important thing. DAWSON'S CREEK.

Why yes, this is the sorta thing I tweet about. Nothing but A+ material here.
I'm re-watching the entire series on Netflix Instant. Seriously, not sure why we pay for cable lately when I've been 100% obsessed with Netflix Instant. Don't tell the Hubs I asked that. Anyway- I'm obsessed. Seriously-- it's just good 90s TV. And, yes-- I am 100% Team Pacey. Dawson's too whiny for me.

 (source)
Told you. WHINEY. I mean... come on!

2. Check out this blog post. That shit is funny.

3. Haha! Speaking of funny shit-- read this one too. Especially #11.
Now you really, really want to read it, don't you?? Do it. You'll thank me.

4. Ready for good celebrity look of the week??
I could take or leave Kelly Osborne and I hate her grey/purple hair nonsense, but this dress is killer on her.

5. And the bad.
Love you, SJP. Like, LOVE you. But, come on. WTF is this? A trash bag with strands of shredded up newspaper hanging out?? Come on. No. Just no.

6. I went to the dentist this week.
Blew. I hate the dentist. I never did before, but since I had to get a root canal last year, I now HATE the dentist. And, I don't care what anyone says. EVERYTHING they do at the dentist hurts. Doesn't matter if they numb you or not. I can still feel that shit and it hurts and I ALWAYS have a sore jaw the next day. Stupid dentist.

7. So, Sadie is shedding like a BEAST lately. I legit can't wear black anymore and my coat looks like I sleep in her cage. The Hubs and I are at a loss. We got the great hair trimming-tool thingy that everyone on the internet recommends. The dog trainer said last night it's because we're feeding her dog food that doesn't have a meat listed as the first ingredient (ie: we're feeding her cheap crap and she needs better food). Is this true? Anyone? I mean... would changing her food really make her shed less? If so, I am so in. It's outta control. She's lucky she so darn cute.

8. Speaking of Sadie-- the pet trainer suggested a different collar/harness thing to make her stop pulling on the leash when we walk her. Whatever- that's not what I wanna tell you about. Here's the thing-- the one she brought over to us was pink. Are you telling me even DOGS have to play to gender stereotypes??? Really???? I get it-- she's a girl. But, she's a girl DOG. And, it's not like I'm a big girly girl or she comes in to class every week with a pink collar and pink leash and her nails painted for goodness sake. She has a RED color and leash currently. Am I treating her un-lady-like because I didn't cover her head to toe in pink??? If I had a baby girl (a legit baby, not a dog-- and, NO I am not preggo. Settle down.), sure-- I'd buy some pink shit. But, not EVERYTHING. And, SADIE ISN'T A BABY! I really shouldn't be this worked up about this. I know that. Rant over. Promise.
Clearly not a pic really related at all. Except that it is of Sadie and you can see her RED collar. And, no-- the Hubs isn't trying to eat Sadie. He's doing homework with her! We were working on SIT in this pic. See! She's got it! Best dog ever.

9. I'm still obsessed with speed workouts. All I want to do is run fast or run long. Recovery runs? Meeeeeh. Those aren't exactly IMPORTANT, are they????

10. OMG. I am so over the LeAnn Rimes/Brandi whats-her-butt story. She cheated. No, SHE cheated. WHO CARES?!?!?!??! Both of you-- just SHUT THE F UP. Seriously.

11. Not sure if you follow college basketball or not-- but, if you do you probably heard a certain #1 team was upset by my Illini!!! I was more than a little excited.
Follow me on Twitter here!

12. I went the gym this morning. Even though I really, really, realllllly didn't want to. When the alarm went off at 4:55am, I turned it off and turned on my 6:40am sleep-in/sick-the-gym alarm. I had every intention of sleeping more. My body had other intentions. When I was still up at 5:05 I decided to just get up and go. Stupid body. Somehow I managed to not be late and make it to the 5:30am Spinning Class. Then, I did 2.5 miles of "hills" (started at 0 incline, changed it by .5 every 30 seconds up to 2.0, then back down, then back up to 2.5, then back down, then back up to 3.5, then back down, then back up to 4.0). KILLER. Didn't help that my favorite treadmill had a sign of death on it and I had to use one of the others. Got it done though. I'm actually kinda really enjoying pushing myself on my runs this week. Who am I?!?!?

13. TV Shows I'm Currently Obsessed With: Biggest Loser, Top Chef, Revenge, Dawson's Creek (see #1) and Nashville. Love them all. I almost never watch TV series as they are actually happening and I am right now. Ok, ok-- not LIVE... I watch them online or on OnDemand, but still!

14. Speaking of TV, I watched a few episodes of the Real Housewives of NYC Season 1 when Style was having a marathon a few days ago. WOWZA. They all look so different! It's kinda crazy to watch that KNOWING what happens to them and that they're "REAL" people. Love bad, trashy reality tv. Love, love, love.

15. I got nothing left. TGIF.

$10 Bill

So, here's the thing. Last night the Hubs and I were at PetsMart for Sadie's Obedience School Training (of which I've taken no pics. Blogger fail.).

We're all told to spread out at the store to practice loose leash walking (of which Sadie is still failing miserably at). I have Sadie and the Hubs ran back to the school area to get our treats.

Imagine my surprise when I stumble across this right in the middle of an aisle.

Clearly this is a reenactment shot. This is actually on my office floor from about 10 seconds ago. But, it is in fact the same exact bill and basically crumbled up the same way. Now, just imagine the carpet is the slick tiled floor at PetsMart in the middle of the crate aisle. OK, good. Glad you're still with me.

Right when I pick it up, the Hubs catches up with me. I go ask 4 different people who were all semi-near the area if they dropped it. They all say no. Now, keep in mind it's a Wednesday night. There were probably only 4 people in the whole store, so I felt pretty good about asking everyone I could visually see if it belonged to them. All no's.

Crap. What do I do now? I consider myself a pretty good samaritan and I genuinely wanted to give the money back to whoever dropped it. But, they all said it wasn't theirs. Where does that leave me?

So, I ask the Hubs what I should do now. He says: "Well, I don't know. I don't know why'd you'd pick it up in the first place. Now you gotta deal with it because no one claimed in."

Say whaaaaat?!?!?!? Would anyone seriously NOT pick up a $10 bill just sitting on the floor? Come on! I'm human! Was I a BAD person because I picked it up? I mean-- I was actually TRYING to help, but since no one claimed it-- here I was. Stuck. Feeling GUILTY because I had this $10 bill burning a hole in my hand.

Was I supposed to put it back on the floor? Turn it into PetsMart? What???

Doesn't help that I'm a firm believer in what goes around, comes around. So, I felt like if I didn't find who it belonged to, then I'd have to keep it and since it wasn't MINE-- something bad would happen to me. Logical? No. But, in my head-- I promise, it makes perfect sense. Still does.

So... what did I do?

I kept it.

I mean... I TRIED to find the owner. I really did. I asked everyone I could see if they dropped it. I WANTED to return it to the owner. No one would claim it! I wasn't going to just put it back on the floor. That seemed silly. And, I mean-- really? Turn it in? It was loose cash! If it had been a wallet, I'd turn 100% turn it in (And, I have done that-- NUMEROUS times). But, loose cash? How would they identify or find the owner any more than I had?

So, now I have it. I'm $10 richer. But, I still FEEL guilty! What do I do with it?? What would you have do with it? Was the Hubs right-- should I have just left it on the ground?? What would you have done-- picked it up? Left it?

______________________________________________________________________________

In non dog-related or ethical dilemma-related news, I ran today. 7 miles of speed work- Yasso 800s. Very close to this workout. Turns out, I kinda love this workout. It makes me CRAZY sweaty (sorry I'm not sorry, co-workers) and CRAZZZZZY hungry, but I love it. The time FLIES by because I'm constantly jumping from the treadmill to the track, so I'm never anywhere for longer than 5 minutes. LOVE. I'm 100% addicted to it right now. Not sure if it's actually making me any faster, but I love it. Plus, I won't lie-- it feels GREAT to be running so FAST on the treadmill when the people next to me aren't going as fast, even if just for .5 mile increments. I'm just being honest here.

So true.

Sorry this post ended up being so word heavy and picture light. I tried thinking of some pics to add to spice it up, but came up with nothin'.
