Life Updates

Not a lot to report... all quiet on the Meagan front, I suppose. So, let's do some updates on all things life, huh?

The Big Move: Well, that's pretty much done! We turned in our old keys to our old apartment and I called this morning to confirm they have everything they need from us. Done and done!
Me turning in our old keys!!!

We're in our new house... it's definitely not everything I imagined it to be. See, I'm a little crazy. This we know by now, right? Well, my crazy comes out in all kinds of fun ways and with this I think I built the idea of the house being perfect (where I got that idea from I have no idea!) and it's not. Not even close. It has some pros (being close to a college campus- easy running/walking paths, washer/dryer, 2 bathrooms, no shared walls, etc.). But, it definitely has a LOT more cons (uneven floors, bad paint jobs, kinda crummy neighborhood, just all around more shit-hole-esque than I remembered/thought) than I remembered it and than I thought it would. It'll be OK. We're slowing unpacking and making progress and I think when we finally get all our artwork/pictures up and get new curtains, it'll be 100 times better. In the mean time... want another sneak peak?

Oh wait, this is a blog about running and working out? Crap, guess we should talk about that then, huh? Let's do this.

Running/Working Out: It's been touch and go. All the moving madness took priority over training and even though I've gotten in most of my workouts, I still feel like I'm behind. Sunday I did my 16 mile long run, which was awesome. Did I love every second? No. But, was it a bombass run? Yes. Monday I did a really light cross training day... 30 minutes on the elliptical light. Yeah. Oh, and the Hubs and I also went on a 5.25 mile walk (leaving straight from our new house! No driving and parking needed! YAY!!). Tuesday I had every intention of getting up at 5am and getting to Signature Strength. The alarm went off and then it all went downhill from there. There was a crazy storm going on outside. Lightening, thunder, pouring rain-- the works. I decided to forgo the treck to the gym in that weather. Retrospectively was I just being lazy? Maybe. But, it was a BAD storm, so I don't feel too bad. I did manage to get 7 miles in at lunch Tuesday. Slow miles, but they got in so I'm ok with it. Today I did get to the gym nice and early. 5:30am spinning class, followed by 2.25 miles on the treadmill and then I got another 6.75 in at lunch. I'm glad I got the miles in and I'm feeling a little out of my funk. Not entirely back in my groove, but getting there. Slowly.

Oh! And, I finally cashed in my massage groupon on Tuesday after work. That masseuse beat the freaking crap out of me. My muscles are still crazy sore today.
A not at all creepy pic of the massage bed post-massage. Not at ALL creepy.

He told me I was in his top 10 for most knots in my back and in the top 5 for most knots in my legs. AWESOME. I asked him if there was anything I could do to fix it. He said (and I quote), "Stress less. Give up control over life. Learn to relax." WOAH. Way to get all philosophical, massage-guy. If only life were that easy.

Food: Well, clearly I forgot all about the whole WIAW thing. Whatever. I have had some pretty good eats lately, though the Hubs and I have yet to actually COOK anything in our new house. We have, however, utilized the microwave and made air-popped popcorn. And we walked to get fro yo. Priorities, people. A few pics of some recent yummy eats (kinda)...
The Hubs and I are a little obsessed with Brothers, a GREAT restaurant/bar near our new house. WALKING DISTANCE!! I got this salad with blue cheese, apples, balsamic dressing, grilled chicken, and lots of other goodies. YUM. Beyond good. Maybe the best salad I've ever had.
The Hubs tried this. I did not. He said it tasted exactly like the name says. Exactly. Did not sound appealing to me at ALL. Gross. PASS. I went for my classic: vanilla fro yo and reese.

Work: Non-eventful. Quiet before the semester starts. Days are passing slowly, but I'm trying to relish in the calm instead of bitch about being bored. It'll pick up soon enough.

So, there you have it. My life in snap shots over the past few days.

Oh! I should also note my little, baby sister has her nursing pinning ceremony today. I am BEYOND proud of her and way, way bummed I can't be there to cheer obnoxious loud. So, since I can't be there, I feel the need to congratulate her in the most public ways I can: facebook, blog, and twitter. Consider yourself congratulated, N. I'm so proud of you!

Me and my baby sister at her college graduation. Yeah, she went to U of I too. Totally followed my steps. And now, she's becoming a nurse!!! SO PROUD!!

  1. I am sure that the house will work out- I will send you some positive thoughts. Worst case, you don't like it and can move out when your lease is up.
That fro yo sounds disgusting, I don't think I would have tried it either. YUCK.

    1. Aw! Thanks! It's slowly working out. And, yes-- I've already brought moving again up to the Hubs. He's not so excited about that. We'll see! One way or another, it'll all work out.

AND-- ewwwww to the fro yo. I'll stick with the more traditional, delicious flavors. :)
