Anyway, I'm back from said cruise. Coming back from vacation is ROUGH. I swear I feel like I need a vacation to recover from my vacation. Luckily, the Hubs and I actually got up pretty early (8am, 6:30am, 7am, 7am, 7:30am) each morning of the cruise AND went to the gym 4 of the 5 mornings, so getting back into the swing of things could have been WAY worse. Oh! AND, we lucked out and got our fall-back extra hour of sleep the night we got back! SCORE.
So, back to the routine it is.
Monday I was up at 5am for the 5:30am spinning class. Meh. It was OK. I was still pretty dizzy from the cruise. Weird, right? The waters were pretty rough, so I just felt MEH and off and dizzy for like 2 days post-cruise. Bleah.
Tuesday morning was ROUGH.
Like, 25* rough. BLEAH. Too cold! I had frost on my car. I didn't have to scrape, but it just reminded me it's just a few short moments (days? weeks? tbd.) away. Booooo. Anwyay, I did manage to get up and make it to the 5:30am Signature Strength class in the morning and 60 minutes of elliptical (while watching Glee! Thank you, Netflix Instant!!) in the afternoon.
When I was leaving the gym the store next to the gym had this on their bulletin board...
"Nothing lasts forever not even your troubles"
Hit me kinda powerfully. Yes, this knee thing freaking blows right now. But, it's not permanent. I control everything else about my life and so what I can't control the knee 100%? It won't last forever and in the meantime there's a bazillion other things I can be doing. I'm lucky enough to be able to move and walk and go to work everyday and live and breathe. This knee thing is a hiccup. It'll pass.
(Remind me of this when it's still acting up in a week, ok??)
After seeing that in the morning, I was determined to do everything in my power to help speed this not lasting forever thing along. So, I talked to and met with an athletic trainer on Tuesday, but I'm not quite ready to share those yet... so, just know that I talked to a professional and that I'm following an athletic trainers "plan" of recovery and doing nightly leg exercises, stretches, icing, foam rolling (and a few other exciting things!) and keeping my fingers crossed. More on details in a week or so after I give it some time to see if anything comes from it.
Anyway... Wednesday was another 60-minute spinning class. Same old, same old.
I'm thinking about mixing things up next week and trying a few after-work classes that are kinda insanity/cross-fit like. Those classes fly by and are always lots of fun. It'd definitely be a mix up and I think I need that... I'm falling into a bit of a workout rut.
What else has been going on... well, work's been super busy... coming back from a full week out of the office to over 200 emails isn't a pretty sight. Wah, wah. Boo me. Actually, I love being busy, so I'm really not complaining. Oh! And, the Hubs and I just started watching Season 1 of Breaking Bad. Have I mentioned that I love Netflix Instant? I do. A lot. Anyway, it's kinda slow moving right now for me (we're only 2 episodes in) but I think it'll pick up. Not that we'll be watching much seeing as how college basketball starts this weekend!!!! SO exciting! Best time of the year!! GO ILLINI!!! The Hubs is a HUGE, HUUUUGE Purdue fan so we legit watch every Purdue basketball game on TV. It's how I convinced him to get cable. BigTen Network was/is a necessity.
Anyway... so, that's what I've been up to. Nothing hugely exciting. What can I say... I'm pretty boring. :)
