Today started like any other day… stupid 5am alarm. You’d think after months of getting up at 5am I’d get used to it and it wouldn’t feel like torture every day. You’d be wrong. That whole “it takes a few weeks to get into a routine…then it’ll be easy!”… yeah—they lied. Ok, ok—it is easier than it was and it’s not TORTURE, per say… but it’s definitely not fun.
Made it to the gym by 5:25am. Yup. I get up at 5am, am out the door by 5:15am, and to the gym 10 minutes later. I’m a pro at getting every second extra sleep I can.
So, when I walk into the gym imagine my surprise when I see this:
Now, that might not mean a lot to you, but to me—this was shocking! All these spinning bikes that are usually in the spinning room are just out in the middle of the gym. Apparently they’re re-doing the spinning room floor and in the meantime, this is what we get. So, I spun. In the middle of the gym. While the spinning instructor tried to play her music over the gyms overhead music. And while all the non-spinners were ellipticalling and weight lifting their hearts out. Needless to say, I got distracted. I still got good and sweaty, but it wasn’t my usual sweat dripping from my face Wednesday morning. After spinning I hit the treadmill for a quick 2 miles in 9:18ish pace before rushing to the shower and to get ready for work. Sometimes I can get 2.5 miles in if I go at a sub 9:00 pace and/or if my morning gym class gets out a few minutes early. I have my morning routine down so I just barely get to work on time. Note: “on time” to me is still a good 10 minutes early. I can’t help it. I’m a type-A overachiever through and through.
Tonight our office is hosting our annual Etiquette Dinner so I'm working late and likely eating some yummy, though terrible for you, eats... hopefully it'll give me motivation to get up tomorrow to get some miles in!
